Macau firms face worker shortage
MORE than 60 percent of Macau's manufacturers face the challenge of insufficient workers, although they were optimistic about the territory's exports in the coming six months, the Macau Daily Times reported yesterday.
The newspaper quoted a recent survey by the city's Economic Services Bureau as saying that 64.9 percent of manufacturers said they were affected by issues of insufficient workers.
The lack of workers is something that has been raised not only by the manufacturing industry, but also by local businessmen who blame new rules for foreign worker employment they believe restrains the development of the economy, the report said.
