Macau gets ready
A pair of giant pandas gifted to Macau by the central government will arrive in the special administrative region on April 30, Macau officials said yesterday.
Experts from the mainland had expressed their satisfaction with preparations made by staff at the pavilion where the pandas will live, they said.
The pair were chosen from 55 candidates following a three-month selection process.
They are to replace Kai Kai, who is being sent back to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and his partner Xin Xin, who died last year.
The new pair will also be named Kai Kai and Xin Xin.
