Macau police bust prostitution ring

A prostitution ring was busted in Macau, local police said yesterday.

Police caught 42 suspects from the Chinese mainland, including four alleged ringleaders and three prostitutes, according to the Public Security Police Force of Macau.

Police said 28 of the suspects, including a suspected 16-year-old ringleader, are from Chongqing City. The others are from Guizhou, Guangdong or Guangxi, police added.

Officers also seized at least 40 mobile phones and piles of bank notes, pictures showed.

The ring started at the end of last year, police said.

The ring members solicited people from their hometowns with false job offers and tricked them into being prostitutes. They found customers from mobile phone applications and arranged four hotel rooms as prostitution venues, police added.

The ring members would be charged with organizing prostitution, police said.
