Mainland H1N1 victims jump to 15
THE number of swine flu cases on the Chinese mainland rose to 15 yesterday, after new victims were confirmed in Shanghai (see above) and in Fujian Province.
The Fujian case, the second in the province, involved a 25-year-old Chinese male who arrived in Beijing on Monday on Air China flight CA982 from New York and then flew to Fuzhou, the provincial capital, on flight CA1821 the same day.
The man, who was being treated at the Fuzhou Pulmonary Hospital, was in stable condition with a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius, officials said yesterday.
In addition, a new suspected case was reported yesterday in Guangzhou: a 28-year-old male Chinese American who works in a hospital in New York and flew to the Guangdong Province capital last Sunday.
Also yesterday, three women tested positive for the H1N1 virus in Hong Kong, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the city to 15, health authorities told at a press briefing.
