Mainland Tourists Flock To Taiwan
THE number of Chinese mainland tourists traveling to Taiwan will be as high as 1.5 million in 2010, Wu Poh-hsiung, honorary chairman of Taiwan's Kuomintang party, told the Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Culture Forum in Guangzhou.
In late June, the mainland's Taiwan affairs chief Wang Yi said mainland tourists had become increasingly interested in visiting farms, streets, residential communities, factories and schools when they were in Taiwan.
Wang said the grass-roots-level exchanges had brought people across the Strait closer together.
