Mainland employers lead Asia in recruitment activities
HIRING expectations in mainland companies remain at a positive level despite a slight fall during the first quarter this year, according to a survey released by Hudson Recruitment today.
The world's leading recruitment information provider contacted about 650 Chinese managers in key business sectors to complete the Q1 survey. It showed that 60 percent of mainland companies expect to expand their headcounts in the coming three months, down from 66 percent in the previous quarter and 77 percent a year ago.
But the 60 percent of mainland employers expecting new hires in the next quarter still dominate the Asian job markets. The figure nearly doubles that of Singapore and Hong Kong, said Hudson, which also surveyed hiring expectations in other Asian countries at the same time.
The IT and telecom industry is the most positive in expanding headcounts as 65 percent of the surveyed managers confirmed their intention for new hires.
Despite their strong recruitment needs, the mainland companies seem to be paying unnecessary costs as a result of hiring the wrong workers, who quit quickly or prove unsuitable for the jobs.
Hudson suggested that mainland companies should refine their hiring methodologies to raise the success rate in finding and retaining suitable professionals.
