Mainland tourist victims cremated in Taipei
THREE Chinese mainland victims of a crane crash accident in Taipei were cremated this morning in the city, the China News Service reported.
Families of the victims, Zhang Shiguang, Wang Bingkun and Li Fuqing, were present at the ceremony, the report said.
They plan to bring back the ashes to their hometown in Dongguan City of Guangdong Province.
The construction firm blamed for the crane fall has initially agreed to compensate each of the victims 7.5 million new Taiwan dollars (US$229,350.3), the report said.
The victims will receive another insurance compensation of 4.5 million new Taiwan dollars, according to previous reports.
The tragedy occurred on April 24 when a construction crane fell on a bus carrying 25 tourists from Dongguan and crushed the rear of the bus, killing three and injuring another.
