THE number of swine flu cases on the Chinese mainland rose to 49 yesterday as 10 more patients were confirmed to be infected with the H1N1 virus.

In addition, three new cases were confirmed in Hong Kong and one in Taiwan.

Beijing reported that its latest victims were a 36-year-old Chinese Canadian who arrived in the capital on Air Canada flight AC407 from Canada on May 28 and a 12-year-old Chinese boy who arrived in Beijing on Continental Airlines flight C089 from the United States on Monday.

Meanwhile, Guangdong Province reported its 13th case, while another two cases were confirmed in the central provinces of Hubei and Henan.
