Maintenance delays 25 bullet trains in Zhejiang
Dozens of bullet trains from Ningbo, a port city in eastern Zhejiang Province, to cities in southeastern Fujian Province, were delayed yesterday, stranding passengers in train stations.
A total of 15 bullet trains were delayed at the Ningbo East Railway Station for several hours. Another 10 trains from Wenzhou, also in Zhejiang Province, to Shanghai and Fujian Province, were also postponed, local news website Zjol.com.cn reported today.
The massive delay was due to equipment maintenance, railway officials said yesterday.
On July 23, two trains collided near the Wenzhou Railway Station. The accident which claimed 40 lives and injured 210 people was blamed on a faulty signal device.
More delays may happen in the next few days as the high-speed railway is undergoing the maintenance, the officials warned.
