Major general facing graft charges

A deputy chief of the People’s Liberation Army’s general staff department was yesterday “taken by compulsory measures.”

The action against Major General Liu Hongjie, who is also a lawmaker in Beijing, was taken after approval was granted by the Standing Committee of the Beijing People’s Congress.

He is alleged to have been involved in bribe taking in 2013.
