Malicious driver who killed seven in E China road rampage arrested
POLICE in east China's Fujian Province have arrested a man suspected of intentionally killing seven pedestrians and injuring 12 others while driving a car, said local procurators.
The procuratorate of Minhou County approved the arrest of the suspect, surnamed Lin, on the charge of endangering public safety through dangerous methods on Sunday, according to a statement issued by the provincial procuratorate on Monday.
At 11:21 a.m. on April 28, Lin allegedly plowed into pedestrians in a rented Lexus sedan, killing six people, including three children, on the spot en route from Changle City to Minhou County, said the statement.
A police investigation found the 37-year-old originally planned the trip to Minhou to retaliate against his wife's parents because he believed the couple was behind his wife's multiple requests for a divorce.
The morning before the rampage, Lin had attended a court trial over the divorce dispute at Changle.
Further investigation by police is under way.
