Man, 75, builds castle to win wife back
A 75-year-old man in Chongqing Municipality is building a dream castle by himself, trying to win back his wife who left him 10 years ago.
After living alone in his shabby cottage for 10 years, Luo Runqi began laying the bricks to a new chapter of his life last December, Chongqing Evening News reported today.
Fellow villagers were surprised that Luo took on such huge task at such an old age. They offered to help him, but Luo refused, saying this would be a private gift for his wife.
Luo's dream castle has already taken shape. Villagers laughed at the grotesque building in a semi-European style, but Luo wakes up at five every day and starts to work after breakfast.
"I calculated there would be 40,000 bricks to be laid and I can do about 400 bricks every day, so the infrastructure will take about 100 days," Luo said. "I'll give it to my wife on her 70th birthday."
