Man blasted for ‘walking’ dog via car after it left home
A MAN who was assailed by people online for abusing a dog said he didn’t mean to hurt the animal after a photo of him driving a car to “walk” the dog was posted online, the Youth Times reported.
The man, surnamed Zheng, has received threatening phone calls since the photo was posted online, some coming as late as 3 or 4 in the morning, the report said.
Zheng told the newspaper that he had adopted the dog over a month ago from one of his friends but the dog went astray a week ago. Zheng said he learned from the dog’s former owner on Thursday that the dog went back to its original home.
When he went to pick up the dog, he drove his car 5 to 10 kilometers per hour and made the dog walk and run, because it was dirty and smelly after roaming for more than a week. Zheng said he put the dog into his car after driving less than one kilometer because it was too tired to run.
