Man castrates self and jumps to death in Tsinghua University

A 26-year-old man castrated himself in Beijing Tsinghua University yesterday morning, and while waiting for the ambulance, he sneaked out the campus clinic and jumped from the third floor of a nearby hotel to his death, Beijing Times reported.
Tsinghua University said the man surnamed Zhu was not its student and the school is unrelated with the incident. Haidian District police also confirmed that it was not a criminal case.
A clinic doctor surnamed Li said Zhu, about 1.7 meters in height, entered the clinic around 11:40am, saying he felt hurt in his crotch, and asked for anesthetics.
Li said she saw blood on his pants and she told him the anesthetics here were used for teeth. After thinking for a while, Zhu left the clinic.
Witnesses said Zhu went to a fruit store on the campus and suddenly cut off his genital with a fruit knife in the shop. He then ran back to the clinic.
Li was stunned to see him again, his pants soggy with blood. She told Zhu that she could not deal with his wound and asked him to go to the university hospital.
Zhu received simple treatment there and the doctor called for an ambulance. But Zhu suddenly left the clinic and went to a hotel nearby. There he jumped from the third floor and was pronounced dead in the hospital.
Witnesses said the man dressed in a feminine style and speculated that he did the castration to change sex.
Police are still investigating the cause of his death, the paper said.
