Man caught after police officer killed in shoot-out

A SUSPECTED drug trafficker allegedly involved in a police killing on Thursday was captured in southwest China's Yunnan Province, local police said.

About 8:40am yesterday, police surrounded and arrested the man, surnamed Pan, according to the police bureau of the Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna in Yunnan.

On Thursday afternoon, a group of suspected drug traffickers shot at police who were attempting to apprehend them. One officer was killed and one passer-by injured.

Police shot and killed one man , who was resisting arrest, and arrested three people carrying 48 kilograms of drugs and a handgun.

As of yesterday afternoon, the injured passer-by was in stable condition.
