Man denied teacher's job over white cell count
A college student in east China's Zhejiang Province has sued a local education bureau for denying him a teacher job because his white blood cell count was higher than normal.
The senior student surnamed Wan at Ningbo University passed a qualification test for the job of a high school math teacher given by Yiwu City Education Bureau in January, Today Morning Express reported.
But Wan was told he failed the physical test as he had an abnormally high level of white blood cells, which indicated he might have a blood disease.
Wan filed a lawsuit on March 10 against the education bureau for discrimination. The court has accepted Wan's case and will hold a hearing soon.
