Man detained over deadly airport stabbing spree

YUNNAN Province police have detained a man who allegedly killed one person and injured three others during a stabbing spree in a waiting hall at Kunming International Airport last night, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The suspect Liu Yong, a native of Sichuan Province, argued with Wang Wenyan and her companions, two men and one woman, in front of Lucky Air's reception desk on the second floor of the airport. Both Liu and Wang thought the airline should serve them first, the report said.

The quarrel soon escalated into violence with Wang and her three companions getting injured and sent to Yunnan No. 3 People's Hospital. Police caught Liu with a knife immediately after the incident, the report said.

Wang died at 11:22am today. One of her companions remains in critical condition and the other two are also still in hospital, Xinhua said.

All the people involved, including a companion of Liu, drank some wine at dinner last night, the report said.
