Man escapes from prison

AUTHORITIES in south China’s Guangdong Province said a man is on the run after escaping from prison yesterday, the country’s second jailbreak in less than two months.
Two inmates attempted to escape by climbing over a wall at Beijiang Prison in Shaoguan about 9am, the provincial prison management authority said. One was recaptured after falling, but Li Mengjun, who is serving a suspended death sentence for robbery, made good his escape, it said. The city’s public security bureau said a cash reward will be given to anyone with information leading to the fugitive’s arrest. In September, three men escaped from a detention center in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province.
