Man finds mom after 17-year walk

A MAN has finally found his missing mother after walking through more than 1,000 villages in four provinces in the past 17 years.

Ban Yincheng, 31, took his mother Jia Shumei, 67, back to their home in rural Guangping County of Handan City, Hebei Province, last week, Yanzhao Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

In 1993, Jia went missing after she went to her mother's home in a neighboring village. Ban, who was then 14 years old, borrowed 22.2 yuan (US$3.27) and started out on the long journey to find her.

Later he decided to focus his search in rural villages.

He walked to villages in Henan, Hebei, Shandong and Shanxi provinces. On July 6 he went to the Huangjiawan Village in Shijiazhuang of Hebei and happened to meet his mother who said she was helped by local people when she came to this village after losing her way.
