Man found hanged in cell had injuries

A SUSPECTED thief who allegedly hanged himself in a police station in Kunming in Yunnan Province had injuries all over his body but police deny torturing the man.
Xing Kun was found dead in an interrogation waiting room at Xiaonan police station at 7:47am last Saturday, said Hou Xiaobing, deputy director of Wuhua District Public Security Bureau. Xing was put into the room at 4am.
Prosecutors conducted forensic tests for four hours yesterday but would not comment until the results are received, the Chuncheng Evening News said.
Kunming police declined to comment on Xing's death, saying they were also under investigation.
They initially said Xing had hanged himself with a shoe lace in a corner of the room not covered by the surveillance camera, but refused to give Xing's family the tape.
