Man gets 5-day detention for spreading Hepatitis C rumor

A man who spread the rumor about an outbreak of hepatitis C in Guangdong Province in south China was punished with a five-day detention for disturbing public order.
The man surnamed Li posted the rumor under the name of "Deep Throat" in a Zijin County online forum, pretending to be a doctor revealing hospital secrets. Many people saw and forwarded his posts, causing widespread panic, police said.
Police managed to trace the source of the rumor and brought Li into custody soon after he posted the rumor on February 26, today's Guangzhou Daily cited the police as saying.
