Man gets death for killing doctor, injuring 2
A MAN accused of stabbing a doctor to death and injuring two others was sentenced to death today in eastern Zhejiang Province, Taizhou city Intermediate People’s Court ruled.
The 34-year-old suspect, Lian Enqing, said he carried out the attack because he was unhappy with an operation on his nose in the Wenling No. 1 People’s Hospital in March.
On October 25, Lian returned to the hospital carrying a knife and hammer.
Unable to find the doctor responsible for his operation, Lian attacked Wang Yunjie, head of the ear, nose and throat department.
Wang was stabbed to death and two other doctors were injured. One suffered serious chest wounds, while the other sustained light injuries.
At an earlier hearing, Lian’s sister, Lian Chao, confirmed reports that her brother had been treated for mental problems at a Shanghai hospital for two months last summer.
Lian denied in court that he had mental health problems, saying he took complete responsibility for his actions.
