Man gets thrill by pricking women with a syringe in mall

A 26-year-old man who pricked young women with a syringe and caused AIDS panic in the city of Qitaihe in northeast Heilongjiang Province has been held by police.

The psycho, surnamed Zhang, allegedly hid behind door curtains of shopping malls to sting young women with a syringe, a local tabloid, Shenghuobao, reported today.

Five victims reported to police between January and February, saying they were afraid that someone was spreading AIDS virus.

Police identified the suspect as Zhang and caught him in an Internet cafe on March 5. Zhang confessed that he frequented the Internet cafe to browse pornographic websites and he pricked young women for excitement.

Medical tests showed Zhang had no AIDS or other contagions, police said.

In a separate case, a 24-year-old man surnamed Xu was detained recently in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, for pricking four young women with a needle on buses.

The young migrant worker said he is too shy to talk to young women in his workplace and found a way to attract their attention by pricking them on the bus, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

But he insisted that his needle contained no AIDS virus.
