Man hacked when stopping smoker in elevator
A man was hacked several times yesterday after asking a man to stop smoking in an elevator in Changsha City, Hunan Province, Sanxiang City Express reported today.
The victim, surnamed Zeng, had lost consciousness due to excessive blood loss after the attack and remained in hospital today, the report said.
Zeng had just visited his cousin when he was taking the elevator down to the underground parking garage. A couple was also in the elevator and the man began to smoke, ignoring a no smoking sign, the report said.
Zeng twice asked the man to stop smoking, leading to an argument, according to the newspaper.
The man followed Zeng into the parking garage and hacked at him furiously with a kitchen knife, the report said. Zeng sustained more than 10 wounds including his hands and head, the report added.
The assailant remains at large, the newspaper said.
