Man held after acid attack on children
A MAN has been detained in connection with the death of a 5-year-old girl who had sulfuric acid poured over her, yesterday’s Beijing Times reported.
Police in central China’s Hunan Province told the newspaper that the girl’s brother, 7, was also injured in the incident but had survived.
Youma Town officials said the man, aged around 70, had quarreled with a relative of the children and claimed he had vented his anger on the children, the newspaper said.
Police were called on Monday morning and found the severely disfigured girl sitting by the roadside.
An officer told the newspaper: “At the time, her brother had been admitted to the hospital. We immediately sent her too.”
