Man held in serial rape case

Police in north China’s Hebei Province said yesterday they had caught a man suspected of raping six schoolgirls.
The 50-year-old is said to have threatened the girls with a knife.
He followed girls walking alone or offered them lifts, police said.
One schoolgirl was raped in the province in September and a police investigation led them to a suspect surnamed Duan who was then linked with five other rapes in Beijing and Hebei since 2009, police said. They added that the case was still under investigation.
