Man held on suspicion of killing 4 kids, 1 adult
A MAN was arrested yesterday on suspicion of killing four teenagers and an adult in his village in central China’s Hunan Province, local police said.
The four youngsters — two males and two females — were aged between 13 and 19 and members of an extended family living in Hengshan County, said the Hunan Department of Public Security.
Two of the victims were brother and sister, it said.
All four were killed on Saturday afternoon at their home, the statement said, without elaborating.
The 27-year-old suspect, surnamed Nie, is also accused of killing a 31-year-old man surnamed Yu on the same day, but in a separate incident.
A manhunt involving more than 300 police officers was launched on Saturday and Nie was captured about 12:20pm near an elementary school in the unnamed village.
The Beijing News reported yesterday that Nie is a retired police officer, though that claim was not confirmed by the public security bureau.
