Man ‘held teenager as sex slave in his cellar’

A MAN has been charged with keeping a young woman as a sex slave for 11 days in a cellar at his home in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province.
Police say 36-year-old Chen Xiaolong, originally from Henan Province, has confessed to repeatedly raping the 18-year-old captive and threatening to kill her.
Chen also told the woman he would post nude photographs of her online, Qianjiang Evening News reported.
Police said Chen told them that violent plots in online novels influenced his actions.
Chen had persuaded the woman to get onto an electric tricycle outside a KTV karaoke establishment on the night of June 12, the report said.
He then took her to a secluded place and threatened her with a knife and electric baton, police said.
The woman was tied up and gagged and taken to Chen’s rented house.
In the 4.5-cubic-meter cellar, the teenager was stripped and chained up.
During 11 days of captivity, she was only allowed to leave the cellar twice, in order to take a bath, the newspaper reported.
She managed to work at gradually cutting her chains using nail clippers and finally was able to break free.
The teenager’s cries for help through a small opening were heard by neighbors who alerted police.
“A naked woman was weeping and waving her hands,” a neighbor said.
When police came to rescue her, she was heard shouting: “If you don’t save me, I’ll be killed tonight.”
Police held Chen that afternoon.
Chen’s landlord said Chen had seemed pleasant at first, but later became bad-tempered and started acting strangely.
He covered the windows with wood and built walls outside the house.
Chen started building the cellar by the end of last year, plastering the walls and carpeting the floor. The entrance was covered by a quilt.
He also installed an electric light and fan.
