Man hits pregnant nurse

A MAN has been detained for 12 days for beating a pregnant nurse following a dispute on Thursday at a hospital in Hangzhou, police said yesterday.
The man, surnamed Pu, argued with the nurse, surnamed Wang, while waiting to see a doctor at the Second Affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. He then began hitting her and refused to stop even when he was told she was pregnant.
As well as the detention, Pu was fined 1,000 yuan (US$164).
Wang suffered minor injuries but is fine, police said.
