Man injures 14-year-old Siberian tiger in Hefei zoo with brick
A MAN was turned over to police after throwing half a brick at a protected Siberian tiger yesterday in a wildlife zoo in Hefei in east China’s Anhui Province, causing the tiger’s buttocks to bleed.
The man and two friends who visited the zoo crossed a bridge over the tiger enclosure and the man threw a piece of brick at a sleepy 14-year-old Siberian tiger named “Tian Tian.”
The tiger, from Tianjin, is of a species under first-class state protection, the tiger keeper said. “The tiger’s muscle is hurt, but no harm was done to its bones. The wound will heal with no need to bind it up at the moment,” said Jiang Hao, deputy curator of the zoo.
The tiger keeper grabbed the man as he was going to leave and handed him to police.
