Man killed in robbery at bank

A MAN was robbed and shot dead outside a bank in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region yesterday morning in a rare armed robbery in China, police said.
The robbery happened around 10am outside a branch of China Construction Bank in the Jinfeng district of Yinchuan, the region's capital.
Witnesses said they heard a gunshot and later found the body of a man outside the bank, his bag missing. The criminal, whose identity remains unknown, had fled, police said.
A special team has been set up to investigate the case.
Chinese laws ban the ownership of firearms, and gun crimes, though rare, usually attract much public attention. In January, a man was robbed and shot dead in front of a bank in Nanjing, prompting a nationwide manhunt for an alleged serial killer, who is still at large.
