Man kills 8 children in Fujian school
TWO children injured in a knife attack at an east China primary school today have died in hospital, bringing the death toll to eight, police told Xinhua.
Five injured children were still in hospital, where their conditions were described as stable, said a spokesman with the Municipal Public Security Bureau of Nanping city, Fujian Province.
Six children died at the scene of the 7:20 am attack, the Experimental School in Nanping City.
Police had arrested a middle-aged man in connection with the killings. He was a former community clinic doctor, who had been dismissed from his post and allegedly had mental problems, said a statement from the publicity department of Nanping Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The school has been closed and pupils have been taken home by their families.
