Man poisons son over college fees
POLICE in central China have detained a man for allegedly poisoning his son because he couldn't afford the tuition for his technical school.
Wu Fei, 21, remains in a coma and has been transferred to a low-cost local hospital in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, because the family couldn't afford the medical fees, reported the Wuhan Evening News today.
His father, who had a history of mental illness, secretly put seven packs of rat poison into his son's meal when he came home for summer vacation from Wuhan Institute of Shipbuilding Technology on July 9.
The father, who had two sons enrolled at college, said he felt desperate about Wu Fei's tuition next term, since the family was already in debt of 40,000 yuan (US$5,904) for college education.
