Man shot dead after chopping 12 in Heilongjiang

AN allegedly insane man was shot dead by police after he chopped dead a pedestrian and injured 11 others in street this morning in northeastern China's Heilongjiang province, according to local police.
At around 7:00am today, local police received a call from citizens in Acheng district of Harbin, the provincial capital, reporting that a man chopped 12 pedestrians in street. Police rushed to the scene and shot the alleged murderer dead after tear gas failed to subdue him.
Of the victims, one died and 11 were injured, who have been sent to hospitals.
Local people said the alleged killer had suffered mental disorder, which police did not confirm.
The man was 38 years old and a native of Mao'ershan of Harbin, according to police. The victims were all strangers to him.
