A man was shot dead this noon after he had kidnapped a five-year-old girl in downtown Beijing and refused to respond positively to police's persuasion, according to local police.
The kidnapping occurred at around 11:20am and the shooting happened at noon at Caiyuan Street, Xuanwu District.
The girl was saved by the police unharmed.
