Man shot dead

A MAN described as “posing an obvious threat to public security” was shot dead about noon yesterday at a railway station in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, authorities said. Police opened fire after the man attempted to snatch an officer’s firearm at Qing’an Railway Station in Suihua. He had earlier been trying to stop people going through a security check and had picked up a child and thrown him at police, a spokesman for Harbin railway police said.
