Man slays 5 in-laws to vent his anger

POLICE in southwest Yunnan Province caught a man yesterday who allegedly killed five members of his family-in-law, including a month-old baby before setting their house in fire, after years of quarrels with his wife.

Police said they nabbed the 25-year-old suspect, He Guoquan, in a village near the place where the murder took place in Yunlong County, Dali Prefecture, reported local City Times today.

His wife, Li Ping, whose parents, elder sister and two nieces, aged three and 38 days, were found dead in their burning house last Monday, said she received a phone call from He that evening, claiming he would surrender to police for the rampage, City Times reported.

The five were found unconscious, covered with knife wounds, lying on the floor of their burning house by their neighbor, Li Guojun, who rushed to carry them out, but they were pronounced dead by arriving police, the report said.

Li Ping said her miserable marriage with He could be the cause of the brutal murder.
