Man surrenders after spilling acid on ex's son
A man who was suspected to have spilled sulfuric acid on a 12-year-old boy in a revenge attack yesterday in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, has surrendered himself to police.
He allegedly had confessed to the crime, China News Service reported.
The man was in a relationship with the boy's mother. He allegedly took revenge on her son because she dumped him, local media reported.
Police said the suspect, 51-year-old Cai Shilin , walked into a police office about 3:40am today in the company of his elder brother.
The boy, identified as Le Le, had severe acid burns on his face, neck, chest and abdomen. He may lose some of his vision as his eyes were severely burned in the attack, Modern Express reported.
Le Le was still in intensive care at a children's hospital.
Police had posted Cai's portrait online after the attack, asking for clues from the public and offered a 10,000 yuan (US$1,631) reward.
