Man tells cops to donate organs, commits suicide
A MAN in Hangzhou City in Zhejiang Province committed suicide after texting police that he would donate his body and organs to science, officers said yesterday.
“I have decided to donate my body and all my organs to charity. When you receive my message, I will already be dead. Sorry for bothering you,” the message, received by the police at about 4:21am on Monday, said.
The man was found hanging from an outdoor air conditioning unit outside his rented house.
A wheelchair was by his side. A walking stick and two notes were on the wheelchair.
Police cut the rope and administered first aid, but doctors confirmed that the man, surnamed Wang, was already dead. Wang suffered from muscular dystrophy and had just turned 30. He felt he could not live on his own and had suffered enough.
At the same time, Wang wanted to make his final contribution to the society. “My last and biggest wish is to donate all my useful organs and body to charity. I hope you respect my choice,” he wrote.
Wang’s family contacted the local Red Cross but the organ donation did not materialize as Wang did not take the necessary check-up.
