Man who stabs women for thrill is caught

THE man who reportedly stabbed seven young women in late March in an area along the border of Hebei and Shandong provinces, causing widespread panic, was nabbed yesterday and police said an online rumor was unfounded.
A rumor circulated recently in Guantao County, Hebei Province that a physco killer had stabbed several young women, most of them dressed in red, and some victims had died. The macabre tale struck fear into the hearts of many locals.
Hebei and Shandong police soon identified the 22-year-old suspect surnamed Zhang and captured him at home yesterday morning. Zhang allegedly confessed that he was merely seeking excitement, Shandong Business News reported today.
The police said no one was killed in this case and the rumor about victims wearing red clothes was not true either.
