Man's knife attack kills woman, injures Frenchman in Beijing
A man killed a Chinese woman and injured a French man with a long knife at noon today in the Sanlitun area in the capital city for no reason, Beijing police said in a statement.
Police received a report of the attack around 11:49 am and subdued a 25-year-old suspect surnamed Gao at the south end of the famous pub street in Sanlitun area, said the statement.
The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but the woman from Shandong Province died despite medical rescue.
A preliminary investigation found that Gao was from Tonghua City of Jilin Province and attacked the two pedestrians for no reason.
