Massive manhunt for taxi gunman
POLICE in Shaanxi Province have launched a massive manhunt for a gunman who shot a taxi driver, leaving him seriously injured.
The victim, Jing Yanfeng, a native of Xi'an City, the provincial capital, is in stable condition and being treated for gunshot wounds to his face, left shoulder and right arm, reported Sanqin Daily yesterday.
The driver said the suspect, wearing a baseball cap and white jacket, got into his cab at 11pm last Friday at a crossroads and asked to be driven to Sanyao Village. On reaching the village, the man asked to return to where they had set off. On arrival, he pulled out a gun and shot Jing, before fleeing.
Some 3,000 police officers are hunting the gunman.
