Mega bus that can ride over traffic jams
A MAN in south China has come up with an idea of "straddling bus" that can carry up to 1,400 passengers, occupy little space and allow other vehicles to pass freely under it.
The four-meter-high bus looks like an elevated train bestriding a road. Passengers sit on the upper deck while other vehicles lower than two meters can go through under.
It can speed up to 60 kilometers per hour and carry 1,200 to 1,400 passengers at a time without jamming the road, reported Beijing News.
The futuristic concept vehicle can reduce traffic jams by 20 to 30 percent, Beijing News quoted its inventor, Song Youzhou, as saying. Song is the chairman of Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Co.
The bus will run on solar energy gathered from its rooftop and electricity through connection to the city's power grid, which made it eco-friendly.
