Metro Line 1 tickets priced 2-8 yuan

HANGZHOU'S first subway Metro Line 1 will charge ticket prices from 2 yuan to 8 yuan (US$0.32-1.28), Metro operator said yesterday.
The fares are based on travel distance – 2 yuan for 4 kilometers, 3 yuan for 8km, 4 yuan for 12km, 5 yuan for 18km, 6 yuan for 24km, 7 yuan for 32km and 8 yuan for 40km.
The Metro line has a total length of 48 kilometers.
People aged over 70 can ride the subway at half price during peak hours and for free in other hours. People aged 60-70 can enjoy 50 percent discount while children less than 1.3 meters tall can ride for free if accompanied by an adult.
People traveling with a public transport card or a resident card with e-wallet functions can enjoy a 9 percent discount.
Metro Line 1 is scheduled to go into operation by the end of this month.
