Military helicopters continue to drop supplies into worst-hit areas
THE People's Liberation Army Air Force is continuing to drop supplies to survivors in Lushan County, its headquarters said yesterday.
A group of aircraft affiliated to an air force division finished seven airdrop operations and four transport missions yesterday, delivering 17.1 tons of relief supplies to the area, including bottled water, instant noodles and other food.
The lack of suitable landing areas prompted the airdrops, the air force headquarters said. As of 8pm on Monday, the division's helicopters had taken 245 rescue workers to the quake-hit area and airlifted 14 injured people to hospital.
