Millions attack Defense Website

The newly launched Website of China's Ministry of National Defense is looking to attract more visitors despite millions of attacks by hacker since it opened to the public on August 20.

The Website warded off 2.3 million hacker attacks, said the Website's editor in chief, Ji Guiling. He said the attacks, most frequent when important military news occurred, have not affected the Website's operation, People's Daily reported today.

Ji said state security won't be jeopardized as all information on the Website was screened before it was posted.

Ji said the Website will become the fastest source of Chinese military news. It will also broadcast live every press conference of the defense ministry and post every statement from the ministry's spokespeople.

It also has an interactive section like the Pentagon's Website for those who wanted to join the army.

The Website's content ranges from military history to state-of-the-art military technology and has attracted more than 1.25 billion clicks in less than three months since it was launched, the report said.
