Millions pay tribute
A total of 13.4 million Chinese visited 150 major cemeteries to honor their deceased relatives over the three-day Qingming Festival.
On tomb-sweeping day itself, which was yesterday this year, more than 5.4 million people visited sites across the country, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said.
Qingming Festival, which usually falls in early April, is when people commemorate their loved ones by visiting graves and offering sacrifices. This year some used the Internet for virtual “tomb-sweeping.”
