Mine death toll hits 28
THE death toll in the flooded Wangjialing coal mine in north China's Shanxi Province rose to 28 yesterday after one more body was recovered.
Rescuers are still searching for the 10 miners who remain missing, search organizers said.
In central China's Hunan Province, three miners trapped in a flooded iron ore mine were rescued yesterday.
They were pulled out alive after being trapped for 47 hours in the mine in Qidong County. Two others were saved on Thursday.
The flooding resulted from continuous torrents of rain gushing into the Shundagaofeng Iron Ore Mine pit. One miner was killed.
