Miner rescued

A MINER has been found alive after being trapped underground for 17 days following a colliery flood in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. Rescuers said the survivor, who was reached at about 4am yesterday, is in a stable condition. A shaft of the Junyuan No. 2 Coal Mine, in Hegang city, flooded on May 2 and rescuers have since been working around the clock to pump out water. Ten miners escaped the flood, 10 have been confirmed dead, five have been rescued and three remain missing.
