Ministry names bureau chief
THE Ministry of Railways yesterday confirmed that An Lusheng is to head the Shanghai Railway Bureau.
Three bureau officials, including the director, were sacked in the aftermath of Saturday's crash.
The Shanghai Railway Bureau was responsible for the track where the accident happened.
An, 46, was head of the Shanghai bureau in 2009 and, before the crash in Zhejiang Province's Wenzhou, was the railway ministry's overall scheduling director.
An is said to be "a low- profile official" who seldom gives media interviews. Rail staff who worked with him said he paid particular attention to safety issues.
